    ProSight is seeking a motivated individual to join the Tax Department located in Morristown, N.J.  The position requires a team player responsible for the maintenance of tax records and the preparation of composite tax returns and related reports to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and/or international tax regulations.  Responsibilities include analysis of the domestic tax compliance and financial reporting for insurance & non-insurance companies.

    Responsibilities

    • Preparation of quarterly and year end Statutory and GAAP tax provisions. Includes calculation of tax adjustments, maintaining deferred tax inventories and tax basis balance sheets, preparation of journal entries, rate reconciliations, SEC and NAIC footnotes and other related activities.
    • Preparation of federal consolidated return. Includes calculation of tax adjustments and completing pro forma returns for insurance and non-insurance entities.
    • Preparation of state tax returns for insurance and non-insurance entities. Includes preparation of both of separate company and combined returns, calculation of apportionment, quarterly account reconciliations and other related activities. In addition, research and respond to various notices received from state revenue departments as well as any related audits.
    • Premium tax process. This includes coordinating with the third-party consultant, maintaining records and preparation of the monthly premium tax accrual.
    • Sales and use tax process. Coordinate with A/P and third-party consultant ensuring timely filing and payment of monthly/quarterly/annual tax filings in NY and NJ.
    • Maintain Tax Department compliance calendar.
    • Supports the development and implementation of tax strategies and planning opportunities.
    • Analyze company payment information for Form 1099 reporting.
    • Keep current on federal and state tax developments as well as tax accounting pronouncements.
    • Research insurance and non-insurance tax issues as assigned by the Tax Director.
    • Partner with external tax advisors and auditors.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 6 years’ progressive insurance tax experience
    • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting
    • CPA or Master’s degree in either Accounting or Taxation preferred but not required
    • Comprehensive technical skills in ASC 740 and SSAP 101
    • Experience in insurance company tax department or tax consulting with insurance clients
    • Organized and flexible – ability to manage multiple projects/assignments, while meeting deadlines
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Looking for someone who is assertive, creative and proactive
    • Results oriented with the ability to solve problems and work independently and/or in a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
    • Solid computer skills – proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters Onesource tax compliance software
