    Responsibilities

    • Handles assigned claims following company guidelines and industry best practices with some supervision.
    • For a diverse pending of vehicle damage claims ranging in varying degrees of complexity, with potential learning opportunities for expansion into bodily injury.   
    • Assigned claims may involve coverage interpretation and litigation.
    • Prepares appropriate coverage letters with supervision.
    • Completes proactive investigations and fully documents activities throughout the life of the claim.
    • Maintains a diary system that assures proactive claim handling and reserving philosophies.
    • Sets accurate reserves on each claim within their authority and promptly brings claims that will require reserves in excess of their authority to their supervisor’s attention.
    • Promptly identifies claims that are candidates for potential severe exposure cases.
    • With the help of their supervisor or manager, completes large claim reports when needed.
    • Closely manages defense counsel and the litigation process to insure that loss adjustment expenses are appropriate.
    • Meets with members of other departments to discuss specific claim details or general claims issues.
    • Maintains adjuster licenses in states agreed upon with manager.
    • May be called upon to perform other tasks or duties within the claims department as dictated by business needs.

    Qualifications

    • Three to Five years of experience handling commercial auto Property Damage claims preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
